My debian 12 got a new home in Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon G9 i5 1135G7 2.4GHz 16GB 512GB 14" Touch. Moved from latitude 5500. Everything worked as it should except sound. Installed the bpo kernel, updated the firware using fwupdmgr to no avail. Then the error logs indicated I should install the missing firmware from https://github.com/thesofproject/sof-bin.
This solved the issue. Posting it here for people searching for sound issues for this particular model on debian.
