[SID - Unstable] [SOLVED] [SID - Unstable] Wifi randomly disconnects

#1 Post by nado »

Hi,

I recently installed Debian Sid on a brand new Wifi 6 compatible laptop, but i encounter issues.

My issue is the following : sometimes my wifi randomly disconnects (Gnome notification "Activation of network connection failed") and an Ethernet icon appears in my Gnome panel even if my laptop is not wired via ethernet.

However I don't face any issue when i'm dualbooting windows 11.

My Wifi chipset is the following

Code: Select all

lspci -vnn -d ::02xx
returns

Code: Select all

01:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8852CE PCIe 802.11ax Wireless Network Controller [10ec:c852] (rev 01)
	Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5852]
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 93, IOMMU group 12
	I/O ports at 4000 [size=256]
	Memory at 98a00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1M]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: rtw89_8852ce
	Kernel modules: rtw89_8852ce
I have the non-free-firmware source repo activated (default) and firmware-realtek is up to date.

I also tried turning off ipv6 in my wifi settings but it doesn't seem to fix anything.

Anyone faced related issue and knows how to solve it?

Thanks for reading

Hello,

Can you report the output of the following command (the inxi program must be installed) ?

Code: Select all

inxi - Fxxxz
Are there messages about firmware or kernel module in system logs ?

Hello,

You may check system logs for messages from the Wifi kernel modules; you can use the following command (root password required):

Code: Select all

script log.txt
su -l -c "journalctl -b -g rtw89_8852ce"
exit
The log will be collected in the file named log.txt

Hope this help.

thank you for your reply !

according to the logs it seems to be an issue with the network-manager power saving mode. i will try to turn PS on and off manualy and see if i can reproduce the error or not in both case. If it success i think i can tag my post as solved

Code: Select all

firmware failed to ack for leaving ps mode
