black screen after login

#1 Post by kazimierzkrauze »

Hello! I'm running Debian 12 Bookworm in vm (Proxmox) with Plasma. Everything worked fine after installation until I rebooted the system. After that when I logged in the only thing I can see is a black screen with cursor at the middle and I can't move it. I can log in through cmd shell using Ctrl+alt+f2 shortcut. Can anyone of you guys help me please?

From the VT login as root, does systemctl restart sddm appear to have any useful effect?

Can you find any clues scanning through dmesg or journalctl?

Capture Xorg.0.log from /var/log/ or ~/.local/share/xorg/ to attach here or upload to http://paste.debian.net/. It may provide clues to what goes wrong or doesn't happen.

How much any of the above is actually valid in a VM I don't know. I only use hardware for hosting Linux installations.
