[Software] Request for feedback on OnlyOffice

#1 Post by DebianFox »

Has anyone used OnlyOffice on their Linux Desktop environments? How is it? Is it any good as compared to LibreOffice? Can you please give your inputs and thoughts regarding this?

I have used onlyoffice a few times. I still prefer libreoffice. The look and feel just work better for me. Onlyoffice does have what many consider a new modern interface. I just can't get used to it. Also when I use multiple tabs going back and forth to each tab brings me back to the top of the page on each tab rather than where I left off. I've also had problems while installing the .deb files. It has always broken the database for me. It's easily remedied but still. This has happened with the last two releases.

On the other hand my wife prefers Onlyoffice. To her it's more like a Windows interface which is what she was used to before I talked her into running Linux.

Give it a try. You may like it. It can easily be removed if you don't like it.

How is the compatibility in opening and saving the files in Word and OpenOffice formats? Does it have high fidelity in saving MS Office formats like docx, xlsx, pptx, etc?
