[Software] Download/Install TOR

#1 Post by mumpkie »

Never used TOR but would like to try it. Where should one go to download TOR? At the TOR site and follow their instructions or at a debian repository? I have not downloaded anything like this before!

Tor is a connection-based low-latency anonymous communication system.

Clients choose a source-routed path through a set of relays, and negotiate a
"virtual circuit" through the network, in which each relay knows its
predecessor and successor, but no others. Traffic flowing down the circuit is
decrypted at each relay, which reveals the downstream relay. ....

Arzgi's post clearly indicates that tor is available in the Debian repos, and decades of advice, easily found on this board, the debian wiki, and in the handbook reccommend such repos as the first choice for installing software.

What exactly is confusing here? <Removed by moderator - see below>

@arzgi : You might want to set your LC vars to 'C' when posting code, not everyone reads Finnish. :P
Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action. Four times is Official GNOME Policy.

Nah, there is translate-shell in the stables' repo.

Code: Select all

arto@dell:~$ trans fi:en 'Älä revi pelihousujasi'
Älä revi pelihousujasi

Don't rip your game pants

Käännökset tekstille Älä revi pelihousujasi
[ Suomi -> English ]

Älä revi pelihousujasi
Don't rip your game pants, Don't tear your playing pants
arto@dell:~$

If you just want to browse with TOR, there is tor-browser. Just download it and run it from somewhere in your home directory.

The account/user named 'steve_v' has been remanded to a lifetime ban from the forums.

Yearly moderation bans and too many admin discussions over a long course of time have indicated that they will not get it or understand how communication is done on-line here on the forums. They should find another avenue for discussion, it will no longer be here.

Application of the official Debian COC, Forum rules, and my own publicly posted guidelines made this a pretty easy decision in the long term effort to remove troll elements.

Problem? Email me, my Name and Email address are public.
Typo perfectionish.
