APT wants to remove over 400 packages

#1 Post by Rob-H »

Hi All

Apt wants to remove over 400 packages from my sid install that I'm sure are needed. This can't be normal can it?

It's not acceptable to use 'sid' and 'normal' in the same post.

It's called Sid for a reason: "Sid is known for torturing and destroying toys."

It might be of help if you could provide some context for this.
Is it just from and apt upgrade, or is it on trying to install or remove some software?
Is it an autoremove?
Are you just using sid in your repos?

Use apt upgrade. Only use apt full-upgrade when nothing is being removed.
Also make sure you aren't mixing Debian releases.
