We have over 19 separate styles/themes for the forums which are winding up to be quite a bit of work to deal with. Ideally we can get them down to 5 or 7.

I would like Absolution or we_universal to be the default theme, it is nice and clean. But the current AllanStyle-SUBSILVER works well with little to no fellow forum member complaints.

Please vote for which styles you would like to keep, options are 4 votes per user. Whichever wins wins.

Please comment in this thread for which style you would like to see as the default style we use.

I use and would prefer to keep using Prosilver. It is used by 20 times as many people as the next most popular. Why is it not an option in the poll? I vote Prosilver as default.
Some of those are downright ugly IMO.

@sunrat

I didn't add it because it is the default style and most people are either already on it, or eschewed it in favor of one of the other styles, I figured that everyone knew what it looked like already. The 20 times as many is deceptive, those are either people who never changed it or old accounts. Which ever we pick as the default would dump everyone into that style, so if pycode became the default it would move everyone there giving it on its face a heavier representation despite no actual user selection.

Added the screencap and poll option for it.

Hi just my opinion that a half dozen themes for the forums is plenty enough even looking at the top contenders now reasonable mix
Is there any need to have so many themes for the forums when close to half of available don't get any use
I like Prosilver as default and yet Absolution seems OK too.

regards

My thoughts as well. It's kind of a pain to manage to be honest as each of them seems to source the logo/icons/header in a different place which makes it difficult to keep the styles consistent across all of them. 7 would be the max I would like to see.

I love Absolution, currently using the we_universal, but have a deep love for proDVGFX. :D

Why have themes that wastes half the screen with white area?

The prosilver theme is used by 20x more members because it was the default up to a year ago.

Maybe I'm just an old stuck in the mud noob, but I happen to like prosilver (I voted for it and no other). I've tried other styles and always come back to prosilver. I also use XFCE and lightdm on Debian because I just want something that works. Don't need all the glitzy bells and whistles. I find them a distraction. Just my two colones worth.

I think that the designers use the smaller size to offset having to use several factors for scaling on mobile devices. Seems like a one size to rule them all option.

And should still be the default. Why was it ever changed?

I think it was changed when phpBB was updated a year ago because of the wasted space on the sides

I'd kindly ask for the removal of themes with Google dependencies. :)

@4D696B65 has a great memory, we moved from that default to 2 others before settling on Allan. The original default was broken/unmaintained and was not usable, after the update people chose Allan to be the new default.

I've tried. :( It seems everyone uses g...fonts as a method, they really are at the point of being unavoidable online.

The only option we could employ would have us do a semi-closed ecosystem where we source the fonts here instead.

@canci I did a quick search on the topic and we should be able to have browsers use their own natively installed fonts rather than pulling from g.

I've done a lot of tinkering the last week on the forums due to vacation from $payingjob, so I would like to let the new things settle for a bit. Next week or in the next 2 weeks I'll task the outside fonts issue and update the TOS/FAQ about it. If I do not, please remind me, I will give it an effort.

I like the X-creamy style. The default (prosilver) looks too cold and washed to my eyes.

Current Tally:
StyleUsed by Including RobotsVotes
prosilver4264911*
Flat Style **cumlative**259
AllanStyle-SUBSILVER19539
proDVGFX113
pycode182
we_universal12
Breeze 132**
Purplexion81
GraandNew10
Absolution00
AcidTech50
proflat40
Reds (2020)40

If we account for styles with at least 2 votes we would keep:

StyleVotes
Prosilver11
Flat9
AllanStyle-SUBSILVER9
proDVGFX3
pycode2
we_universal2
Breeze2
This poll is a skewed . :)

*Prosilver gets a huge bump in use as we never forced the new default style change on the users who used it, so it has a heavier use rate which fairly should not be applied.

**Breeze was missed in the poll but has users, I gave it a pity 2 votes.

The Flat style has 6 substyles and was lumped for 1 overall style.

*edit: Formatting.

I voted Acidtech and AllanStyle_SUBSILVER, for me the best proportions.
The only downside is that they both have a slight bug that doesn't show the board path (see picture, AllanStyle_SUBSILVER [dark because I'm using Dark Reader])
