[Suggestion] DE's yes, WM ? OPEN FOR COMMENT - UNTIL 1/11/23
While I do see a board for Desktop environments, should there also be a Windows Manager board?
That may not be something very popular as many of the folks may simply be using a DE.
Admin Edit: Stickied to bring more attention to the request.

I believe Desktop Environments covers most of the bases for Window Managers and Graphical Environments.
We could change the sub-forum name from Desktop Environments & Multimedia to Graphical Environments, Managers, & Desktops, or something to that effect which would better reflect on the purpose of the forum and likely get proper threads placed there.
Thoughts?

Of course. Let's give it a week for comments.
I clarified some of the other forum names and dropped a few a few weeks ago and I don't think anyone noticed.
Edit: This reminds me to post that the thread about these things....

Re: [Suggestion] DE's yes, WM ?
After giving this more thought, I can see that Graphical Environments "could" simply include include both WM and DE.
So maybe just Graphical Environments and Multimedia would cover it.
Now I'm just torn on this, lol

Re: [Suggestion] DE's yes, WM ?
Does it really need mentioned? I think it goes without saying, as being a primary purpose for many. 'Multimedia' has a 90's ring to it, an outdated moniker really, preceding 'convergence'. Most of those question will be centered on integrating in the desktop, or on the hardware, or maybe a general what to use, so I think the existing sections cover it.

As a wm only user... I can see a value if keeping things separate.

"Graphical Environments" covers all the DEs and WMs. "Multimedia" should be kept apart. They are very different subjects.
I rarely see posts here about problems with WMs. My suspicion is that WM users are mostly able to take care of their own issues.

I float between the 2 depending on my mood. I don't see why they can't be in the same forum. I guess they could be split but I don't see much point.

@Bulkley I had a quiet thought along the same lines and do not recall seeing any Multimedia questions posed, at least not to the point that we would add thread prefixes for them as an example.
I do not think there would be enough demand for Multimedia to get its own subforum, at least at this time, the only place I could see homing it until that point would be the Graphical Area, so I left it in the description but not the forum title.
