[Testing - Bookworm] Solved: Wayland Sway

#1 Post by paxmark1 »

I performed a full upgrade to Bookworm recently. I had been able to choose between LXQT or Sway via SDDM on Buster previously. I can use tty to get to Sway and it is much more functional than it was was in Buster.

I am looking for an easier way to choose Sway from startup. greetd seems like a candidate. Any suggestions welcomed. Years ago I had Sway on an EEE901 and an old Acer netbook in Sid, but they have been recycled. I did use siduction on a netbox (AMD-C50 cpu) for a couple years until it died.

"sudo systemctl set-default multi-user.target" is probably an option also.

peace out and thanks for this new section.

Hello. And after you upgraded to version 12, this method no longer works? (via SDDM).

After all, similarly to X, Sway can be started by adding the following to your shell initialization file

Code: Select all

if [ -z "${DISPLAY}" ] && [ "${XDG_VTNR}" -eq 1 ]; then
  exec sway
fi
