[Software] Debian 10.13 + chromium + open.spotify.com = "Playback of protected content is not enabled"

#1 Post by dborghi »

Hi all,
i am new in Debian.
In my old Samsung N130 i installed Debian 10.13 (32bit); i would like to use this netbook only to surf the net, possibly while i listen to the music on Spotify.
But when i go on spotify by chromium (opn.spotify.com) i obtain "Playback of protected content is not enabled".
i read online that i must enable DRM, but in chrome://settings/content/protectedContent the flag is on.
Is there anybody could help me in a simple simple way?
Thank you

It looks like Google dropped support for DRM in 32bit back in '21.

https://news.itsfoss.com/netflix-issue-32-bit-linux/

This script mentions the last 32bit version of the widevine plugin, but the link seems to be dead.

I found the file mentioned here:

https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linu ... owser_Repo

Perhaps try adding it thus:

Extract the archive and look in

Code: Select all

chromium-widevine-plugin-48.0.2564.97-i386-1alien/usr/lib/chromium/
Copy the plugin to where it needs to be

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/chromium-browser/libwidevinecdm.so
I have no idea if this will work/be secure/be accepted by Spotify, but could be worth a try.
