[Discussion] When will KDE 6 be available

#1 Post by F3lixChen »

Recently KDE Plasma 6.0 has been published
I guess it won't be on Debian 12 but 13, right?
And another question is that when it will be in Sid and Testing branch

No need to be in such a hurry. Even more KDE6 is buggy...

With the many (many) components to get though experimental, and unstable, and be able to be built for the different architectures, and then get into testing, and squashing critical bugs... It will not be soon especially with the many bugs that are being reported. But, perhaps if you switch to Unstable you'll get it. But downgrading is not recommended so if I were to try it I'd use a VM.

Maybe in the next stable release. Maybe not. Depends on how fast stuff gets squashed. Debian is not known for the latest and greatest. It is known for reliable software that doesn't give you to many surprises. Nothing stopping you from getting the source and trying to build it. Make a good backup first because it might get hairy and potentially destructive.

I'd personally surmise it won't be the next stable, but the one after that.
