[Discussion] What is the longest running install you ever maintained?

Either in a workplace or a personal setting, what was the longest lasting Debian (or other Linux) installation you've had the privilege to administrate?

What kind of problems had you contended with which arose from the age of the system?

Is it still going today?

2nd oldest install currently running clone;

Code: Select all

$  cat /var/log/installer/lsb-release & cat /etc/debian_version
[1] 284326
DISTRIB_ID=Debian
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Debian GNU/Linux installer"
DISTRIB_RELEASE="8 (jessie) - installer build 20150422+deb8u4"
X_INSTALLATION_MEDIUM=cdrom
bookworm/sid
[1]+  Done                    cat /var/log/installer/lsb-release
Some clones that are off would report 12.5, and a newest clone base copy is running;

Code: Select all

~$  cat /var/log/installer/lsb-release & cat /etc/debian_version
[1] 9897
DISTRIB_ID=Debian
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Debian GNU/Linux installer"
DISTRIB_RELEASE="9 (stretch) - installer build 20170615+deb9u2+b1"
X_INSTALLATION_MEDIUM=cdrom
12.1
[1]+  Done                    cat /var/log/installer/lsb-release
There is both a 12.5 of that one and an unmerged version, and an 11.8 waiting for me to decide.
The oldest and third oldest are frozen midway and will not be upgraded.
Every point upgrade leads to at least minor out-patient surgery.
I don't think anything is running on original hardware.
