[Software] Authy removal

#1 Post by AllanP »

On other Ubuntu based OS's I've been able to remove the defunct Authy with Snap. However in Debian I've tried Snap and apt with no success; so looking for a software removal tip for Authy.
TIA, Allan

How was it installed on your Debian system?

Authy does not appear to be in packages from buster through experimental, therefore, unsupported by Debian and appears to be a snap, and since it appears to be a snap (also appears to still be in Beta (?))
you might be better severed via SnapCraft OR from the folks that created Authy.

I'm pretty sure it was installed with snap, but snap doesn't remove it nor does apt. I'll try what you suggest. It's no big deal I guess; just trying to keep things neat. Thanks for the replies. Allan

If you try to remove it by snap, which error messages/logs will you get?

I'd be curious to know if you see it listed in synaptic. If its shown there, there is a chance to remove it. Have you tried dpkg also? I assume you have but thought it worth mentioning.
Also worth noting, there may be an uninstall script somewhere where the app resides. Doesn't happen often, but sometimes there is one.
