[Software] Chromium has problems playing DRM videos
Hello guys, I am running debian bookworm all up to date with chromium Version: 122.0.6261.128-1~deb12u1. I have notused that it cannot play videos on some platforms like https://www.iene.mediaset.it/puntate/. I checked on my archlinux install and chromium with version 123.0.6312.58-1 is able to play this video. What is causing this and how can I fix it?
Re: [Software] Chromium has problems playing DRM videos
Some time ago I've battled similar issue on chromium. Video streaming in MS Teams and Webex meetings didn't work. After short research it turned out to be the fault of h.264 codec, which is not included in chromium builds because of licensing stuff.
Example thread on this topic: https://superuser.com/questions/1541739 ... sing-codec
So maybe it's worth checking if your problem isn't related to h.264 codec.

It's DRM'd so it's working just as expected.
"Digital Restrictions Management" The more you accept it the worse it will get. Just imagine when what would happen if Microsoft had put DRM on bios or uefi on all the computers they sold. You wouldn't be running anything but what ever they allowed or their partners (Red Hat) allowed. All choice would be gone.
Sod em watch something else.
