xfce brightness controls

xfce brightness controls

On debian testing after an upgrade this morning, the brightness control keys on this Clevo laptop no longer work.
Testing with xev, those keys report:

MappingNotify event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 8, count 248
KeymapNotify event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
keys: 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

and the like, although I am not sure that this is much help.

Just now I can only control the screen brightness using echo as root to
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
which, I think shows that this is an xfce4 problem.

I am not quite sure how to report the version of xfce4, but
dpkg -s xfce4-session, for example, shows 4.18.3-1

I have also had problems with xfce4 apparently silently changing my settings for display timeout for suspend and more since the "upgrades" in the last month or so.

Are others seeing these problems on testing?

I'm using xfce4 and I haven't had problems. Having said that I'm holding back on doing a full upgrade. I'm not sure why xev doesn't show a keycode for those keys.

You could try "xfce4-power-manager --debug" then press the brightness keys.
