I regularly play Xonotic and Supertuxkart.
Xonotic is a fast-paced online shooter, inspired by Unreal Tournament and Quake.

Supertuxkart is an online arcade race game, in some ways similar to Mariokart.

Also i play now in Beneath a Steel Sky, it is a quest released in 1994. “In August 2003, the game was released as freeware, with its assembly language source code by Revolution Software, although the license under which the source code is released does not qualify as a free software license”

Xonotic, TripleA (Axis and Allies boardgame), Kapman (PacMan clone), Supertux (jump and run sidescroller, much like Supermario) and Knights (chess).

Re: What free and opensource games do you play?
Overally I rarely play games, but it's what I play when I decide to do so:
Ace Of Penguins (ace-of-penguins) game set, basically penguin-themed MS game set (included in i.e. Windows XP) with nice additions (incl. at least 2 additional games). Purely X11 (no graphical toolkits like GTK used)
Freedroid (freedroid), a C64 Paradroid clone. Nice time-killer that ideally resembles that 80's sci-fi with theming, models and music
Atomic Tanks (atanks), Worms-like multiplayer tank game (with bots available). Fun but crashes frequently and overally buggy
Battle Tanks (btanks), (very) fast-paced 2D multiplayer (again, bots available). Abandoned at beta yet feels like ready product. Interesting pairing of it's bloody nature with cute cartoonish graphics. Good soundtracks
Bomberclone (bomberclone), I think name resembles what is it. Fun but only if played with somebody else; built-in bots usually kill themselves shortly after round start
FreedroidRPG (freedroidrpg), freedroid-themed Diablo-style RPG. Playable, however feels largely unfinished and dialogs are not interesting. It's lore is broken and self-contradicting as well. I can elaborate on this if somebody wants
Extreme Tux Racer (extremetuxracer), 3D sliding game with Tux. Fun to play and has unique charm with it. Or at least I find such
And well, sometimes I play fish card game, precisely ones which comes with NetBSD / OpenBSD
I've also used to play BZFlag (bzflag), but it feels so dead (very few players and no option to play with bots)

Re: What free and opensource games do you play?
Fun fact: beneath a steel sky is in Debian main. It runs with the scummvm engine, not the non-free engine. However, we still don't have source code to the game data that actually contains all the logic. Typos in the dialogue have been fixed by having scummvm perform search and replace...alienspy wrote: ↑2024-04-04 08:21 Also i play now in Beneath a Steel Sky, it is a quest released in 1994. “In August 2003, the game was released as freeware, with its assembly language source code by Revolution Software, although the license under which the source code is released does not qualify as a free software license”
