Sound card suddenly not recognized in Debian 12

#1 Post by fotl »

Hi, I have noticed that since a couple of days I have no audio output from my asus F15 notebook's speakers, and teh internal speakers are not recognised at all. Sound works correctly via bluetooth headphones, and it kind of works via HDMI even tough there is a subtle but noticeable crackling.

I don't remember installing anything new aside from Lutris, which I have removed without getting sound back. I have not done any recent updates as far as I can remember, however I just updated everything trought apt hoping it would fix itself without success (that's why I have the latest kernel). Here are some outputs that I tried while connected to my bluetooth speaker:

I also tried adding

Code: Select all

snd-intel-dspcfg.dsp_driver=1
as a kernel parameter, but when I ran update-grub it gave me an error and audio from internal speakers still didn't work.

Re: Sound card suddenly not recognized in Debian 12

#2 Post by FreewheelinFrank »

Have you tried booting into the previous kernel to see if a kernel update broke it?

What is output of

Code: Select all

$ aplay -l
and

Code: Select all

$ pacmd list sinks

Hi, I looked for a guide on how to downgrade kernel but I am not sure I undestand it, do you have something to link please?

Code: Select all

At the grub menu, use the down arrow to select Advanced options (you only have three seconds).

You should then have the option to boot from the previous kernel if it has been updated.

Bluetooth output seems to be the default. Install package pavucontrol and in the Configuration tab (far right) see if the profile is set to Analog Stereo Duplex. Also check the Output Devices tab to make sure that internal speakers are the selected port and set as default/fallback.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I tried the linux kernel 6.1.0-18-amd64 and I still can't see the integrated speakers anywhere. Below is the screenshot from pavucontrol. The bluetooth output might be set as default because I am using a bluetooth speaker to get the audio, anche there is no other audio output device listed anywhere.
