[Solved] laptop not turning off completely

#1 Post by reformedhatter »

The latest kernel, 6.1.0.22, seems to have fixed the 'laptop not turning off completely' issue that I've been having. Where can I find out what was contained in the kernel update?

Here's the kernel changelog - https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/pub/lin ... Log-6.1.22

Hope this helps -

Or just

Code: Select all

$> zless /usr/share/doc/linux-image-6.1.0-22-amd64/changelog.gz
for the changelog included in the Debian package. Good luck! :)

sorry for the late response, I am not on the forums that often. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

the issue returned again, but I think I have finally found the solution. If I go to the grub file and edit this line to look like this GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" it closes down every time.

So I have the solution, and the splash screen, but that doesn't explain why it happened in the first place.

I deleted my response, will come back to this later in a separate topic, possibly supplemented by a “journalctl -b -1 | tail -100 “ report .

Hi there,

I'm not a techie, so I'm not the right person to ask. I am not sure why you have resume=UUID=8f3e4a9f-ae86-4da0-a1af-16cdb75dfb46" added to that line. Mine is identical to yours apart from that and my timeout is 3 [I changed that myself, so I know why that is different].
