loading Broadcom 4322 as wlp2s0 during boot

#1 Post by Almah »

Hello,
I am trying to salvage an old Macbook pro 2010 for a friend and have installed LMDE 6 based on Debian 12.1. Everything is working wonderfully... except as you would guess the Broadcom 4322 wifi adapter. The adapter loads at boot but does not show any networks available, I got a hint from another thread that it helps to put the laptop to sleep and then it works fine. While this workaround is good BUT I am not satisfied ... so I am trying to wade through the logs to see if I can find a hint :roll:

What I seen to see is that at boot when it does not show the networks it loads the network card as wlan0 and then renames it to wlp2s0 but then it does not show any networks, however after I wake it from sleep mode it loads the adapter as wlp2s0 and instantly the networks are available as perhaps you can see in the logs below.... Would it help if I was to change the name to wlp2s0 instead of wlan0?? How could I go about doing that? Or is the problem somewhere else?

Thank you
regards
Almah

LMDE is a Debian derivative; derivatives are handled in Off-topic subforum. Topic moved.

Solution found....

Created file "70-persistent-net.rules" in/etc/udev/rules.d

added single line

SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="Wlan*" NAME="wlp2s0"

where the xx:xx....... denotes the mac address
