[Announcement] Evolution benchmark for Linux

#1 Post by Technologov »

Hi All,

We at Waverian decided to rewrite the ancient "Livermore Loops" for modern OSes, write both a CLI , a lib, and a GUI for it + publish the source code on Github (for the CLI). The new project is called "Evobench", because it does benchmark computers across different decades (modern vs 1990) and categories (Linux server vs an iPhone). Like a 486 vs a Pentium 1 vs a modern AMD Threadripper vs an iPhone. How crazy is that?

We need help packaging it and uploading into the Debian "main" repository. At least the CLI, that is Open-Source already, and maybe also the GUI (which we are considering to Open-Source also).

In part Evobench is an answer to Geekbench due to its lack of 32-bit support and also also because it's unable to scale properly, to Threadripper level of performance. And in part it's to relive the CPU evolution history. Our App includes a CPU museum inside !
