Be seeing you...
Re: What does your desktop look like?
I logged into the forums for the first time in quite a while, and realized that I had posted to this same thread five years ago in this post! I'm still using Debian, and my entire Linux journey has basically been Ubuntu 8.10 --> 16.04, and then Debian 8 --> 12.

Reports of its passing have been greatly exaggerated! Good to see you're still kicking too, Mr. Head.Head_on_a_Stick wrote: ↑2023-07-16 21:38 Something wicked this way comes:

Re: What does your desktop look like?
VTWM (vitual tabbed window manager), is one of many TWM descendants. It implements a Virtual Desktop (VD), meaning that what is currently on screen is just a portion of a larger workspace.
What portion of the virtual desktop that is displayed and whatever windows might be visible within it, are simple point-and-click operations within a scaled representation of the workspace.
My configuration of VTWM is practically a full experience as far as menus - layouts - icons - themes - sounds - all configurable within the window manager. You don't have to mess around with gtk themes to make title bars, windows, menus, icons or buttons match your setup.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
^ Ha! I time my morning workouts with tty-clock
wizard10000 has posted lots of car backgrounds so I need to balance out the thread:
Mmm... Honda CBR600RR. Shame it's a Japan-only model. Now Kawasaki has brought the (cheating) ZX-6R back to the UK Honda should follow suit. I'm sick of boring old twins. Padgett's had this version at the NW200 & TT road races and it was very competitive, especially at the hands of Davey Todd. And yes, those are wings. Well, winglets. Cute.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
IceWM is the WM I always come back to. I like that it (in contrast to Openbox, my other favorite) comes with its own lightweight panel and that it supports pixmap themes. I also like how sane the defaults are and how simple it is to configure/customize compared to say, FVWM which I also have spent a good amount of time with.
I just need to figure out how to change the icons used in the systray.
