I was searching for Debian-based distro's at Wikipedia yesterday and ran across this:
http://www.lhlinux.org/
"Funny" stuff to be found on the web.

But the real solution is icewm with win95-theme (aka: the longhorny-theme) .

@sur fer: in case you don't know, there is the vista- and the sevenmizer:
http://www.syssel.net/hoefs/software.php
(it is German, sorry, just search the web for vistamizer in case you need further info)

Looks interesting. Is it the only wm running or does it run on top of a more conventional wm?

@Lou: How did you "tame" the menu to align with the address bar? Special plugin? On Iceweasel, I use CompactMenu2 to disable it alltogether.

Nothing that fancy:
View > Toolbars > Customize > drag everything down you don't want into the big customizing box, pull up the address bar and google bar, arrows, etc, if you want. Disable the Bookmarks and
Navigation Toolbars. I also use lightest theme:
mozilla.org > Firefox > Addons > Themes > Compact > Whitehart (it's on the second page)

Also i use Vimperator, but that's another story :)

It is the only wm running, it uses ~500 kb of memory ram, not bad at all, the lightest i've used, looks good for a laptop. Running on my temporary desktop Celeron 1.4 mhz/ 512 mb ram/40 gig hd, it flies. It's in Squeeze and Sid, i donloaded from Squeeze for my Lenny.

What shall i say. Brand new refracta out there [1, see PS]. I didn't do much configuring
(resized the panel, added emodule-bling, loaded wallpaper-2, configured gnome-terminal, set it to 4 desktops ... perhaps a bit more )
Installation took five minutes. I will move some backed up stuff back in place now.
All cool.
That should be the one i installed:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... ghtenment/
Download it as long it is there

http://www.ibiblio.org/refracta/
Or, if you wanna have your say, check the mailing list:
http://groups.google.com/group/users-refracta

[1]PS: I was told that it is not exactly Refracta. I already figured out that it comes with some not so super lightweight apps (gedit, gconf-editor (huh?), gnome-terminal, icedove).
Why it is rather a test-thing or special-thing is a bit beyond me.
This way or the other: it is a cool e17 based on Debian with the basic apps one needs -and a bit more than that.
If that is what you want you can download it and are ready to rock.

Just for today.
Linux may not be the best OS but in IMHO it's way ahead of whatever is in second place!

Basic gnome with clearlooks and Debian original wallpaper. Sometimes openbox. The looks is not important, the functionality is.
And by the way, Clearlooks looks incredible good :D

Not much has changed to my #!Crunchbang-Statler/Debian-Sid/Openbox desktop ...

Changed the theme, conky and tint2 to reflect a 'dark' mood for Halloween. Found this great 'Tribal Bat' wallpaper on DeviantART.

Oh yeah . . . using the Chromium-browser, from the Sid repros, for a change. I normally prefer Iceweasel-4.0b5
