Debian Stretch upgrading MariaDB to latest stable

Hi Friends,
I would like to extend the life of my Debian Stretch VPS, updating MariaDB to latest stable release.
My VPS serves: a mail server (user and password DB stored), a web server, an XMPP server ((user and password DB stored) and a Nextcloud istance.
Here I've found the procedure to add repositories, and here the upgrade documentation.
I would like to know if any of you have already experienced this procedure and what difficulties you may have encountered.
