Fail to install in VirtualBox, although I did it before

I have VirtualBox on a Bullseye host, and one up and running Bullseye guest,
that I installed a couple of days ago. So far, so good. Setting this up was
rather straightforward.
Now, I am trying to install one additional VM, under Bullseye too.
The funny thing is that, along several tries, installing Debian always fails at
the step "Installing the system". I haven't been able to salvage the log,
neither on "a mounted partition" nor with httpd.
Failure happens even with the most plain and default options.
I was able to successfully clone the first VM, though.
The Live CD runs fine. Trying to install from there fails all the same.
I used the folling images, that I downloaded from debian.org − The checksums
seem correct.
− debian-11.1.0-amd64-netinst.iso
− debian-live-11.1.0-amd64-xfce+nonfree.iso
The latest Ubuntu installs fine.
I am at my wit's end, and wonder : would there be some not-so-obvious caveats
that are easy to overlook ?
